Twin Pines Recreational Field

VNHA provided site/civil design, environmental consulting, permitting and construction phase engineering services to Hopewell Township and Lawrence Township for Phase 1 of a proposed Park Development, encompassing this 50-acre site of the former Twin Pines air field that straddles the Hopewell – Lawrence border. Phase 1 improvements include the construction of three athletic fields with lighting, a parking lot, a pedestrian pathway around the perimeter of the park, and other common-area upgrades.

The existing airplane hangar was repurposed into a park center housing a museum, restrooms, storage space, and meeting rooms.

Athletic field design by VNHA included a multipurpose 345’ x 400’ synthetic turf full size soccer field with two short side crossing fields, grandstands, fence enclosure and lighting system; a 340’ x 540’ full size natural turf soccer field which overlays two smaller perpendicular soccer fields with irrigation and subdrainage; and a 500’ x 500’ multi-purpose space able to accommodate two 200’ x 300’ soccer or multipurpose fields on an irrigated, subdrained natural turf. These fields were open for use in spring 2012.

As part of this project stormwater management was provided through underground stone storage detention basins in combination with porous paving over a portion of the new parking areas.
Site/civil engineering design documents for the entire park development and construction documents for Phase 1 were produced by VNHA.

Landscape Architecture for this project was provided by Stearns Associates, LLC and Geotechnical Investigation was performed by Melick-Tully and Associates, P.C.
