Eden Institute

VNHA provided site surveying, civil engineering design, and environmental consulting services to the Eden Institute for rehabilitation of an existing 12,960 sq. ft. facility and construction of a 24,900 sq. ft. expansion in an effort to condense multiple facilities throughout West Windsor into this new facility located in Plainsboro Township along the southern portion of Princeton Forrestal Village. A portion of the existing building is utilized for Eden’s administrative offices and academic facilities; a two-story addition contains a gymnasium and exercise room; and another two-story addition contains new classroom areas. Vacant land at the southern end of the property was converted into a park area containing a multi-purpose athletic field, basketball half-court, playground area, and outdoor fitness course. Another playground for younger children was constructed in the courtyard in between the three buildings.

The new facility includes a model convenience store and office training room to foster job preparation skills, a kitchen for use with Eden’s enhanced lunch preparation program, and 37 individual therapy rooms. Serving as Eden’s headquarters, the new facility also includes Eden’s Outreach program including Wawa House, one of the nation’s first early intervention programs which was funded by Wawa Inc. Other site improvements included sanitary, potable water and fire services, construction of curbing, sidewalks, pavement repair, underground electrical, site grading, stormwater drainage, lighting & landscaping.

VNHA provided concept analysis, basemapping, tree locations, onsite soil analysis report, preliminary and final site plan documents, preliminary and final major subdivision documents, legal descriptions, construction staging plan, municipal and regulatory permitting assistance, and construction phase services. Construction was completed in 2011.
