Survey Department/Project Manager | Cape May Court House | August 1, 2021

Van Note-Harvey Associates, Inc. currently has an opening in its Cape May Court House office for a full-time Survey Department/Project Manager. The employee is expected to perform and oversee surveying and planning services related to land use development, municipal land use planning, tax map preparation and maintenance, master plan updates, and site planning projects in South Jersey.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide management and administrative support services for boundary, title and ALTA surveys, aerial and topographic surveys utility locations including pipe inverts and sizes, utility surveys, wetland location surveys, construction layout, and right-of-way surveys.
  • Review, approve and seal calculations, technical documents, and drawings.
  • Quality assurance/quality control review of all survey documents, including survey plans, record plots, legal descriptions, and construction layout services.
  • Project site visits and/or periodic field observation as required.
    Attend and participate in municipal hearings and all necessary client meetings.
  • Interact/communicate positively with the public, elected officials, clients, contractors, and team members in a timely and professional manner.
  • Take the lead in subdivision and site plan projects, directing engineers, environmentalists etc. with regards to deadlines and deliverables. Attend Board meetings as necessary.
  • Monitor project schedules, budgets, and deliverables.
  • Communicate job progress to branch manager, in particular, in relation to any potential issues with timelines and/or budgets.
  • Provide guidance to all internal departments regarding survey related project barriers.
  • Cultivate relationships with new and existing clients to provide VNHA services for site design.
  • Proposal preparation including project approach, scope of services, and fees.
  • Participate in business development/networking activities when appropriate and assist with the preparation of marketing materials.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:

  • Knowledgeable in all aspects of field and office survey operations and procedures, including equipment, legal requirements, boundary analysis and resolution, ALTA requirements, local subdivision, and zoning requirements.
  • Proficient in current survey technologies including robotic total stations, GPS, 3D Scanning
    Experience in supervising and directing survey crews and technicians.
  • Ability to manage projects effectively, multitask, and prioritize workflow to satisfy multiple project schedules, deadlines, and budgets simultaneously.
  • Exceptional client and contractor relationship management skills.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D and Leica equipment and software products.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software, particularly Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point.
  • Excellent attention to detail, time management skills, and responsive to the needs of clients.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; public speaking and presenting.
  • Self-Motivated, organized, and able to work well independently and collaboratively.

Requirements:

  • Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in surveying or related field preferred but not required.
  • NJ Professional Land Surveyor’s License.
  • NJ Professional Planning License.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in land surveying project and contract management.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

3D Laser Scanning Office Technician | Princeton | August 1, 2021

Van Note-Harvey Associates, Inc. currently has an opening in its Princeton office for a full-time 3D Laser Scanning Office Technician. The technician is expected to utilize point cloud data to achieve various deliverables, including 3D models, 2D CAD drawings and registered point cloud datasets. Projects may include the modeling of building facades, building interiors, structural components and MEP (mechanical, electrical and plumbing) systems.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Point cloud registration and analysis.
  • Revit modeling of point cloud architecture, structural and MEPS.
  • Perform clash detection within Navisworks.
  • Complete projects within project schedule and budgetary targets.
  • Perform other related duties, as assigned.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:

  • Proficient knowledge and understanding of converting point cloud data to Revit and 3D CAD models.
  • Experience with the following programs is preferred: Leica Cyclone, Leica Register 360, Leica Cloudworx and Edgewise.
  • Ability to perform work related tasks remotely.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong problem solving/analytical skills.

Requirements:

Survey CAD Technician | Princeton | August 1, 2021

Van Note-Harvey Associates, Inc. currently has an opening in its Princeton office for a full-time Survey CAD Technician. The technician is expected to prepare or modify all types of Survey CAD drawings and related duties as required.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Planning and preparation of survey drawings from field notes, sketches, and/or other material.
  • Drawing preparation to including plot plans, foundation locations, easement plans, existing conditions surveys, pipe networks plan and profile, boundary surveys, topographic surveys, minor and major subdivisions, and as-built/record plan preparation.
  • Create and modify maps for special assignments.
  • Assist in developing survey maps and layouts, when necessary.
  • Quality control for completeness, accuracy, and to ensure plans meet company and industry standards.
  • Organize/maintain project drawings, plot files and project-related information in accordance with VNHA standard procedures.
  • Coordinate reproduction of plan sets for submissions.
  • Complete projects within project schedule and budgetary targets.
  • Perform other related duties, as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Associates degree or completion of a technical trade school in CAD drafting and Surveying related courses preferred.
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience as a Survey Technician.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D 2019 or later.
  • Experience with MicroStation and any survey and/or engineering-related college coursework a plus but not required.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Strong communication and problem solving/analysis skills.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and able to work independently  and collaboratively.
  • Valid driver’s license (clean record).

Construction Observer | Cape May Court House | August 1, 2021

VNHA currently has an opening in its Cape May Court House office for a full-time Construction Observer. Under direction from the department manager, the applicant is expected to provide construction observation for private sector and Public Agency Capital Improvement Infrastructure Projects, including water supply and distribution systems, sanitary sewer collection and treatment systems, storm sewer systems, and pavement construction.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Act in the capacity of Resident Project Representative to assist Engineer in providing extensive observation of construction project(s) and serve as Engineer’s liaison with Contractor
  • Attend pre-construction and weekly job progress meetings
  • Conduct on-site observations of the work in progress to assist Engineer in determining if the project work is proceeding in accordance with the Contract Documents.
  • Provide and maintain all records related to the project in question, including daily quantities.
  • Keep a diary or log book of all observations and daily activities for ongoing work and provide Engineer with daily reports to include all labor trades and equipment supplied by Contractor.
  • Review applications for payment with Contractor and confer with Engineer on recommendations for progress payments.
  • Prepare a final punch list at substantial completion and perform final project review for project closeout.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum ten (10) years experience with heavy civil construction projects.
  • NICET certification a plus but not required.
  • Good communications skills with the ability to work with others and interface with the public.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and focused, with good attention to detail.
  • Valid driver’s license (clean record).
