Construction Observer | Cape May Court House | December 7, 2020

VNHA currently has an opening in its Cape May Court House office for a full-time Construction Observer. Under direction from the department manager, the applicant is expected to provide construction observation for private sector and Public Agency Capital Improvement Infrastructure Projects, including water supply and distribution systems, sanitary sewer collection and treatment systems, storm sewer systems, and pavement construction.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Act in the capacity of Resident Project Representative to assist Engineer in providing extensive observation of construction project(s) and serve as Engineer’s liaison with Contractor
  • Attend pre-construction and weekly job progress meetings
  • Conduct on-site observations of the work in progress to assist Engineer in determining if the project work is proceeding in accordance with the Contract Documents.
  • Provide and maintain all records related to the project in question, including daily quantities.
  • Keep a diary or log book of all observations and daily activities for ongoing work and provide Engineer with daily reports to include all labor trades and equipment supplied by Contractor.
  • Review applications for payment with Contractor and confer with Engineer on recommendations for progress payments.
  • Prepare a final punch list at substantial completion and perform final project review for project closeout.


  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum ten (10) years experience with heavy civil construction projects
  • NICET certification a plus but not required.
  • Good communications skills with the ability to work with others and interface with the public
  • Self-motivated, organized, and focused, with good attention to detail

AutoCAD Technician/Drafter | Cape May Court House | December 7, 2020

Van Note-Harvey Associates, Inc. currently has an opening in its Cape May Court House office for a full-time AutoCAD Technician/Drafter. The ideal candidate is expected to prepare or modify all types of CAD drawings (survey plans, site plans, utility plans, road plans, etc.), and related duties as required.

Van Note-Harvey does not provide MEP or Structural Engineering. Application must include a resume. Relocation assistance will not be provided.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Planning and preparation of preliminary layouts and drawings from land surveying and engineering notes, sketches, and/or other drawings for site/civil engineering projects including existing feature, site layout, grading, utility, erosion control and storm water plans, pipe networks plan and profile, boundary, topographic and as-built/record plan preparation.
  • Draft land development plans, zoning plans, concept plans and construction documents.
  • Create and modify maps for special assignments.
  • Incorporate subdivision plats and drawing files into maps.
  • Prepare site plan renderings for municipal presentations.
  • Assist in developing survey maps and layouts, when necessary.
  • Work closely with engineers, designers and other drafters to coordinate design effort.
  • Quality control for completeness, accuracy, and to ensure plans meet company and industry standards.
  • Organize/maintain project drawings, plot files and project-related information in accordance with VNHA standard procedures.
  • Coordinate reproduction of plan sets for submissions.
  • Complete projects within project schedule and budgetary targets.
  • Perform other related duties, as assigned.

Qualifications for this position include:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Associates degree or completion of a technical trade school in CAD drafting preferred
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience drafting civil projects that involve land development, site design, and grading.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D 2019 or later
  • Experience with MicroStation and any survey and/or engineering-related college coursework a plus but not required.
  • Strong computer skills
  • Strong communication and problem solving/analysis skills

CAD Manager | Princeton | December 7, 2020

Van Note-Harvey Associates, Inc., a multi-discipline site/civil engineering and surveying firm with offices in Princeton and Cape May Court House, New Jersey, currently has an opening in its Princeton office for a full-time AutoCAD Manager.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • In coordination with the IT Department, coordinate and manage all updates to and deployments of AutoCAD and Civil 3D software.
  • Provide software training to all users, including creating content for and organizing attendance at training sessions.
  • Assist users with solutions to software-related issues.
  • Develop CAD and BIM data management and software workflows.
  • Develop and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for CAD and BIM workflows.
  • Manage technical support cases with software companies, in conjunction with IT Department.
  • Provide guidance to company stockholders responsible for technology expenditures.
  • Assist project managers with daily production, as needed.

Proficiency in any of the following is a plus but not required: Leica Cyclone, Leica Infinity, ESRI ArcMap, Autodesk Infraworks, Bentley PondPack, and/or WaterCAD.

Autodesk AutoCAD or Autodesk Civil 3D Professional Certification, and/or Autodesk Expert Elite also a plus but not required.


  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum of five (5) experience.
  • Must be proficient in the most recent versions of Autodesk AutoCAD and Autodesk Civil 3D.
